Michael Eisenstein joined NewStar in early 2005 after spending the previous five years at the Bank of Tokyo- Mitsubishi UFJ Capital Corporation (BTMU) in Boston and London, U.K. There, he was an Associate in the corporate investment banking group covering non-investment grade mid-sized commercial finance and transportation companies in the aviation, maritime and rail sectors. He specialized in raising debt capital for asset-backed financings, arranging and placing offerings and advising clients on the structural implications of financing strategies. Michael also focused on developing quantitative methods to support the bank’s economic capital allocation and risk management objectives. Before joining the investment banking team, Michael was an Analyst in the corporate finance group in BTMU’s auto lease finance division. In that role, he was principally responsible for the division’s securitization activities, lease equity asset management platform and spearheading the development of the group’s quantitative portfolio and risk management infrastructure. Earlier, Michael spent two years on the trading and operations desk at Emerson Investment Management.

Michael graduated magna cum laude from Suffolk University with a B.S.B.A. and received a M.B.A. with distinction from the McCallum School of Business at Bentley University.
