OilM Windows® Upgrade

Subject: Upgrading the Spectroil M Oil Analysis Spectrometer with OilM Windows® Hardware and Software

We are pleased to announce the availability of the OilM for Windows® Readout and Data Management System. It is available on new spectrometers or as an upgrade to existing spectrometers. New spectrometers that feature the OilM WindowsÆ hardware and software will be designated as Spectroil M-W, Spectroil M/N-W, Spectroil M/C-W, or Spectroil M/F-W.

The OilM for Windows® Readout and Data Management System consists of a color flat panel display, retractable keyboard with built-in pointing device, high speed CD-ROM, Zip® Disk and new operating software based on the Windows® 2000 operating system.

The advantages and features of the new hardware and software are:
1. Current technology.
2. Capability for easier interfacing and communication with modern database software.
3. Backup with Zip® Disk Drive.
4. Multi-tasking.
5. Analytical capability and database software can be in one unit thus eliminating the need for an external computer.
6. Integral 10/100 Ethernet.
7. Standard computer hardware with lower repair/replacement costs.
8. Industry standard hardware configuration for future upgrade path.

The OilM for Windows® package is available as of 1 August 2000 on all versions of new Spectroil M spectrometers and also as a retrofit to existing spectrometers in the field. The existing readout system is will still available for customers who already have several spectrometers and want to keep service and training the same, or for those who prefer simplicity and a lower price.
