Camperships and Funds

Agawam Council has established a number of endowments and special funds for which we receive donations annually. If you are interested in learning more about these funds, or have a gift in mind that you would like to designate, please feel free to contact us at any time.

The Main Idea and Campership Endowment: Established in 1992, this fund is intended to supplement annual fundraising to support the Agawam Campership program and the Main Idea at Camp Agawam.

Sandra T. Campbell Memorial Fund: Established in 1990, this fund honors the memory of Sandra T. (Sandi) Campbell, particularly her indomitable spirit and grace, her steadfast love and caring, and her courage in the face of adversity. The fund provides support for the Main Idea camping week and Camp Agawam Camperships.

The Mary W. Gregg Endowment for Leadership Enhancement: Established in 1998, this fund provides annual grants to allow Agawam alumni to engage in training or other experiences that will enhance their leadership abilities, particularly with children in an outdoor setting.

The Preservation Trust: Established in 1992 and designated to help preserve the Agawam environment and program viability, funds from the Preservation Trust have allowed us to purchase over 60 acres of adjacent open land, and to professionally plan the future of the Camp and its governance.

Hiawatha Society: This is an opportunity for Agawam alumni and friends to plan for Agawam in their estates. It is most flexible regarding modes of giving, and we are very grateful to those who have made long term commitments to us. The Society now has 32 members and, if you would like more information, please contact Erik Calhoun, Camp Director (chiefc@campagawam.org). Gifts received from the Society will be added to the Preservation Trust, unless otherwise designated by the donor.

Special Funds and Designated Gifts: Donors to the Berg International Fund increase our ability to hire and retain fine international summer counselors. Other gifts, designated for camperships or special purchases, are especially helpful in expanding our outreach and in making efficient use of our program budgets. Donations of goods and services have the same effect and we are grateful to those who keep Agawam in their thoughts.
