Courses EKG 2 weeks. This course teaches the student how to properly perform a 12-lead EKG, how to detect artifacts and correct them, and how to correctly mount the EKG on a board for the physician's review. The instruction is practical and hands-on. You will be learning with a real EKG machine on a live test subject. Syllabus> Phlebotomy 14 weeks. Students will learn proper venipuncture procedures using OSHA regulations. They will be taught medical abbreviations and terminology, how to properly perform capillary punctures, and how to correctly perform venipunctures on pediatric patients. This course takes the student further than other phlebotomy courses, as we also teach proper patient communization as well as other clinical applications, including throat cultures, urinalysis, and patient assessment. We offer hands-on practice using a real test subjects. Syllabus> Phlebotomy Refresher Course 8 weeks. This is a slightly shorter version of the Phlebotomy course, above. We review medical abbreviations and terminology, how to properly perform capillary punctures, and how to correctly perform venipunctures on pediatric patients. The material on throat cultures, urinalysis, and patient assessment is omitted in the Refresher Course. Syllabus> Medical Assisting 18 weeks. The Medical Assisting course covers EKG and Phlebotomy, as in the courses above. In addition, students will learn about physical exam preparation, autoclaving of instruments, understanding the Physicians' Desk Reference, interview techniques, performing injections, and CPR.
