I created my career by overcoming obstacles. I've found if I challenge myself, a door I never expected opens up. As an accountant with a degree from Northeastern University, I decided I needed to get over my fear of public speaking. I trained to become a fitness instructor and challenged my fear head-on. What I didn't realize at the time was that I would discover a love of movement. I excelled at teaching and became passionate about health and fitness. This path lead me to go deeper into the research of movement and I discovered the field of Occupational Therapy. I entered into the Master's program for OT at Tufts University and embarked on a career working with patients with a variety of problems from cardiac issues, stroke, and hip and knee replacements. I found an obstacle in the health care system, however. It was difficult with our current system to stay with a client to get them back to the full levels of functioning that I desired. I continued my desire to explore body movement more, I began taking Pilates classes and realized how beautifully Pilates and Occupational Therapy principles mesh. I became a Pilates instructor and haven't looked back since. I taught for five years at what was one of the top Pilates studio in Boston area at the time, and became fully certified through the Stott Training Center in Hamilton, MA. I am now an instructor trainer for Stott and teach new instructors how to integrate the principles that I've learned with the repertoire of Pilates.
In September of 2007 I challenged myself again, I wanted to create an environment where my philosophies of body work and rehab principles could mesh together to create the best training environment for my clients. Through a bit of serendipity I found a beautiful space in downtown Newburyport, MA and I've been off and running ever since.
